Introducing the Dorset and the New Forest Tourism Partnership
Dorset and the New Forest Tourism Partnership was formed in 1995 to provide a single umbrella body for the co-ordination and development of tourism in Dorset and the New Forest to the benefit of the visitor, local economy, community and the environment. It is supported by and works alongside local authorities, business and trade organisations and the regional tourist boards.
Why form a Tourism Partnership for Dorset and the New Forest?
To promote the diversity of the area, access joint financial opportunities and expertise within the industry, and provide a joint working strategy for local authorities and other bodies such as Bournemouth University and The Learning + Skills Council, Dorset.
Stronger appeal as a destination - Contrasting activities and landscapes within Dorset and the New Forest area have greater appeal to a wider audience.
Themes and Packages - A wider variety of special interest and activity holidays can be offered when drawn from an extended area.
Shared Knowledge and Expertise - Research, skills and knowledge can be shared between partners.
Impact - Pooled resources can put across a stronger message - especially when developing new markets.
Value for Money - A co-ordinated approach reduces duplication and makes best use of resources.
External Funding - A regional strategy can more effectively access and administer regional funding, e.g. European Social Fund, Learning + Skills Council South West, South West RDA.
The Partnership is responsible for:
1. Business & Skills Development - Promoting Quality and improving the bottom line
2. Promotions - Selling Dorset & New Forest as the complete destination
3. Wise Growth - Preserving the past, enjoying the present, securing the future
4. Market Intelligence - Data for decisions, tourism's vital statistics
