Welcome to Excellence is the most successful customer service training initiative in the country. Over 300,000 people have already benefited from taking part. The one-day training programmes provide front-line employees, managers, volunteers and students with the skills needed to provide consistently high standards of customer service.

This autumn the Partnership will be offering five one-day Welcome to Excellence customer care programmes which can be studied as individual units or on block to achieve the new Level 2 Certificate in Customer Service. This new nationally accredited certificate in customer service can be achieved by successfully completing the following units coupled with a written paper.

  • Welcome Host
  • Welcome International
  • Welcome Line
  • Welcome Host Plus
  • Welcome All


Welcome Host
High standards of customer service are a pre-requisite in today's competitive tourism industry. From this one-day course delegates will acquire new customer service and communication skills including how to deal with difficult situations and using customer skills to boost business.

Welcome International
Designed to give candidates greater confidence when meeting and greeting international visitors in another language through an understanding of differing cultural needs and basic meet and greet language skills.

Welcome Line
Provides the necessary knowledge to improve customer service and sales through skilful use of the telephone and via e-mail. It also ceates awareness of effective communication skills.

Welcome Host Plus
This builds on and extends the knowledge developed in the standard Welcome Host unit. Candidates will improve their understanding of their customers and competitors, identify the benefits of effective teamwork and develop an understanding of how to present products and services to customers.

Welcome All
Welcome All provides practical advice and guidance on serving customers with specific needs. It covers a range of sensory, mobility and learning disabilities and concentrates on the individual's responsibility for effective communication, enhancing accessibility and delivering a high quality service to special needs customers.
