Business and Skills Development
Promoting quality & improving the bottom line
The Partnership's Business and Skills Development role is to ensure that all tourism related businesses irrespective of size and sector, have the necessary skills and resources for success. It seeks to improve the image of tourism as a career and quality of entrants into the industry, making sure skills and training are matched to the needs of the industry.
- Practical business advice
- Affordable training
- Improving skills, recruitment and retention
- Fighting for industry funds & recognition
Business & Skills Development has a team based at Bournemouth Town Hall including Programme Managers, Business Advisor, Tourism Skills Co-ordinator, PR and finance officers.
Business & Skills Development works in partnership with all the local authorities, who contribute either financially or in-kind, the regional tourist boards, trade associations and regional development agencies. It hosts the Regional Skills Network Co-ordinator for Dorset and is widely recognised as the conduit for subsidised business support, training and skills development for the local tourism and hospitality industry. Since 1995 the Partnership has attracted more than £4million in support of the industry helping 5,000 individuals from 900 local businesses to develop and maintain standards of delivery and service.
The work of the Business & Skills arm of the partnership is guided by a working group (panel) comprising members of partner organisations, funding bodies, the trade and local authorities.
